A green smoothie isn’t often on the menu during the holidays but to offset some of the indulgence fitting one in for breakfast or instead of a snack will give you a health kick and get you glowing in time for the New Year.

You need:
1 cup packed kale leaves, stems removed (or spinach’)
1 cup packed spinach leaves
juice of 1/2 lemon
1 green apple, cored and diced
1/2 cucumber
1/2 teaspoon agave nectar (or raw honey)
1/2 cup filtered water
3 ice cubes
Remove the seeds from the cucumber and blend all the ingredients together. Spinach can replace the kale if you prefer – being an easier vegetable to break down.
